Pretty good food, service, and ambiance.. but I wish we ordered the bo ne (sizzling plates) instead of the xôi. That was my least favorite dish, although the sauce and pate were delish. I just prefer my xôi the old fashion way instead of the cubes. Makes it hard to eat in that presentation. But dang, that bone marrow pasta?? My whole fam ate that up. I could have ordered another one and killed that too. lol. Def will be back to try more menu items.

Shoutout to our server Edmund for having the most positive attitude and inviting hospitality. He was super attentive, cheerful and overall went above and beyond with his service. We will be coming back and asking specifically for him :)) keep up the great work!

I've been hyping up Nep Cafe in my head since high school. I've been to SoCal about 10 times since HS and each time I scheduled a visit, I ended up canceling. I had the chance to finally go on my recent socal trip! We got the Bone Marrow Pasta, The Dao, Banh Mi Chao, and Xoi Chien.
Bone Marrow Pasta - I did not expect this to be bland. I was hoping for a more savory dish with some spice or additional seasoning to balance the heaviness of the bone marrow. It was also somewhat sweet which I did not expect. I'd go for the bone marrow toast next time.
The Dao - my favorite dish! The mash potatoes were so smooth and savory. The combination of toast, potatoes, and egg made for a perfect appetizer.
Banh Mi Chao - It was pretty much like other Banh mi chaos I've had before, so it didn't stand out to me. However, I still thought it was good!
Xoi Chien - Both my friends said this was their favorite dish. I loved the crispy cubed rice and the toppings. The sauce on here was sweet so I did not enjoy that but I probably would have enjoyed it more if the sauce was more savory.
Egg Coffee - lowkey got so jittery drinking this. It was good but too strong for me. I loved the foam though!
Cheese foam mango green tea - I usually would not get this at a restaurant but it was actually pretty good. It was very sweet but the foam paired well with the mango tea.
Overall, I did come in with high expectations since I've been waiting to try this place for the longest time. I would definitely come back here to try the bone marrow toast and get the Dao again. -

The experience at Nep Cafe (Fountain Valley) was beyond extraordinary and memorable. First, we had a reservation at 1:30pm because that was the only available time. We came in at 12:30 because we really didn't have anything to do before that. After checking in, they seated us at 12:51pm and I was so happy that we didn't need to wait for an hour.
The server David came and was very respectful. I was showing my boyfriend a reel without realizing David was there and he waited for a bit for me to finish showing the reel. I did feel bad though. David carefully asked if we had any allergies to which we confidently said no (bad mistake on my boyfriend). We ordered banh mi chao, and the app: crab with bread. Turned out, my boyfriend became allergic to crab very recently
After having crab, he developed nausea but didn't tell me. He said he was too full after finishing up banh mi chao. When we finished paying was when he told me that he thought he might be allergic to crab (which was a sudden development because 5 months ago we had crab cakes and he was fine). So when we walked out the restaurant, he went to the nearby trashcan and started throwing up. I felt so bad for those who had to watch. I tried to hide him from people to see through the window with my body but dude is a 6'2 giant compared to me 5'2.
I ran back to the restaurant 3 times to ask for water and napkins, in which the staff was very accommodating. I am beyond grateful for their service and nonjudgement. I will definitely come back to Nep Cafe and try out other Kei concepts restaurants (I have tried at least 4 of them already)
For the food review, that crab toast was very creamy and fluffy. I wish my boyfriend didn't eat it so I could finish it all. Our banh my chao was boiling hot! The fillet mignon was soft and chewable. The aromatic pepper taste complement the overall quality of the dish. I didn't try the ube horchata too much. I only had a sip and it was averagely strong, not too strong though.
Parking was tough and I saw many parked in the next lot that doesn't allow restaurant parking.
